JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:


The Bellisario College of Communications is seeking to hire a Penn State student to fill a part-time position assisting with the promotion and execution of College Events and special activities.


Position will:




  • Assist and participate in the implementation of in-person and virtual college events and collaborate with other Bellisario faculty and staff in the planning and attendance of college events and activities.




  • Maintain inventory of event supplies to ensure cross-collaborations with events; research, obtain quotes, recommend display materials, equipment, and giveaways following Bellisario and Penn State policies and guidelines.




  • Assist with the set up/tear down at event locations




  • Serve as front of house staff - welcoming guests, providing information, and directions as needed.




  • Assist with the creation/printing of event related items (nametags, table tent cards, other items as needed)




Required skills/experience areas include:




  • Microsoft Office proficiency (Outlook, Excel, Word)




  • Excellent customer service and communication skills




  • Ability to receive and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, where various forms of communication and organizational skills are crucial to be effective




  • Experience and working alongside a diverse group of people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds




  • Ability to detect potential issues; and work through/troubleshoot issues as they arise




  • Physical labor will be required during the transportation of supplies to event locations, and during event set up/tear down.




Preferred skills/experience areas include:




  • Career event planning practices, timeline management, promotion and/or communications




  • Use of Microsoft apps Forms, SharePoint, OneNote, other event planning support software a plus!




Working location would be on University Park core campus in the Bellisario College of Communications, with onsite presence required as needed at a variety of event locations. Working hours are typically Monday through Friday with flexibility, working approximately 10-15 hours/week on average. During busier times, additional hours may be required.
